Three Advanced Engineering Design and Presentation students from Ben Barber Career and Technology Academy used 3D printing technology to engineer a mechanical prosthetic hand for a dad from Spring, Texas. The students, Jeremiah Joseph (Frontier HS graduate), Isaias Lopez (Timberview HS graduate) and junior, Nke Ebolum (Lake Ridge HS) made contact with Mr. Jayme Sims, a father of three and Iraq war veteran, through an online 3D printing enthusiasts group called E-nable. The prosthesis was presented to Mr. Sims on June 18, 2014 at BBCTA. Mr. Sims lost fingers on his right hand in an accident. The presentation also garnered local media attention.
